Ontario Model WHO (OMWHO)

Introduction

The Ontario Model WHO (OMWHO) conference is a new undertaking by UTIHP this year planned for March of 2010. Similar to Model United Nations conferences, OMWHO aims to simulate General Assembly committee sessions held by the WHO to deal with global health issues. The mission is to encourage interested students, especially those in the health sciences, to participate actively in global health policy work, while honing the skills of diplomacy and compromise.

Although the details of the inaugural conference have yet to be finalized, the plans are to have the conference over the last weekend of March, March 26th to March 28th. We hope to have approximately 50 students from various disciplines from across Ontario join us. The tentative focus for this year’s conference is the Retention and Distribution of Health Care Workers in Less Advantaged Areas.

With this conference, we hope to start a tradition that will provide students with a unique and enriched experience in global health. For further information, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
